practices for the Great Northern Highway upgrade project.

<p align="left">In a region where the majority of native vegetation has been cleared for agricultural land uses, road reserve vegetation has become a valuable habitat for native fauna, including WA&rsquo;s own Carnaby&rsquo;s Cockatoo.</p>
<p align="left">To support the continued success of this endangered bird within their works area, the Access Alliance team is undertaking a series of management and mitigation strategies that seek to enhance breeding opportunities for the cockatoos along the Great Northern Highway.</p>

<p align="left">The protection and enhancement of the environmental values of road reserves is a key environmental commitment for all Main Roads projects and the Great Northern Highway upgrade project illustrates how the Access Alliance team is working to meet this commitment through habitat protection measures.</p>
<p align="left">The Great Northern Highway upgrade project is scheduled for completion in February 2010, with revegetation works continuing through winter. </p>
