The Access Alliance team is currently working concurrently on four separate sections of Great Northern Highway. The works currently being undertaken in each of these sections are detailed below. You can view a location map of these areas by clicking here
 
Great Northern Highway, Brand Highway and Muchea East Road Intersection
Works Overview: Intersection widening and realignment, installation of traffic signals and sensor technology
Anticipated completion date: March 2010
Current Status:
  • Kerbing is scheduled for Wednesday 10th March 2010. Expect extend delays. 
  • Asphalting is scheduled for Thursday 11th March 2010. Expect extended delays.
  • Trenching for streeet lighting is underway. Poles on Great Northern Highway will be installed this week. 
  • 60 km/hr speed restrictions apply on Brand Highway during work hours. 60 km/hr speed restrictions apply during work hours on Great Northern Highway. 80km/hr at other times.
  • Bus stop 14730 on Brand Highway has been relocated to the Great Northern HIghway south of the Brand Highway intersection until March 2010. 
Bindoon South: Hart Drive to Tea Tree Road, Flat Rocks Road vicinity
Works Overview: Road widening and realignment
Anticipated completion date: May 2010
Current Status:  
  • Pavement construction underway opposite Hart Drive.
  • Sealing of works near Hart Drive is scheduled for Wednesday March 17th 2010. Expect extended delays.
  • Earthworks have commenced in new work section near Flat Rocks Road.
  • 40 km/hr on gravel road. 40 km/hr past Brockman River bridge. 60/80 km/hr speed restrictions on remainder during work hours. 60/80 km/hr outside work hours. 
Bindoon (Longbridge Gully) to New Norcia
Works Overview: Road widening and realignment, construction of passing lanes, surface correction
Practical completion date: December 2009
Final completion date (signs & lines): March 2010
Current Status:
  • Audible edge line installation scheduled to recommence Monday 15th March.
New Norcia to Waddington
Works Overview:  Road widening and realignment, construction of passing lane, Capapora Brook bridge upgrade
Anticipated practical completion date: February 2010
Final completion date (signs & lines): March 2010
Current Status: 
  • Works underway include: pavement construction
  • Sealing complete.
  • Finishing works are underway
  • 40/60/80 km/hr speed restrictions apply during work hours through the roadworks section. 80 and 60 km/hr speed restrictions apply at other times. 
Chittering Roadhouse vicinity, New Norcia North Section (work completed May 2009), Walebing to Bindi Bindi
Works Overview:  Application of second layer of seal and reapplication of white lines
Anticipated completion date: February 2010
Current Status: Complete
